The Skater: 2:07. This arrangement for winds is taken from a solo collection of Valsers for Trombone and Piano. The opening statement of Valser Nr. 2, The Skater is featured in the upper wood winds and then repeated into the development of the opening statement material. The main thematic material depicts a skater performing the technical rudements in a short program. The development of the thematic material depicts the various blade work of the ice skater performing the correct technical landing of the skate blade on the ice. The trombone solo The Skater, is a technical composition presented as a description of this type of ice skating. This technical arrangement allows different combinations of wind sections to be presented in a challenging level of performance.
